Karma, how deep is the pond? 24"+ should not have any bird probs. Is there different levels/shelves in the pond? In the late fall/winter I have used Sch40 PVC fittings to make caves and such for the fish, they sink. You could make a cave in the pond w/a couple of rocks and a piece of flagstone or other flat rock.
