My poor gatf got super punked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's one good looking tiger. Red in the fins is very pronounced. What are you feeding? What kind of lighting? Looks like we have some learning to do..... lol

Thanks DB junkie DB junkie , means a lot coming from an expert like you. I feed my fish a mix between cut up market prawn and quarantined feeders that are fed a staple of flower horn pellets. Although I try to keep some of the shell of the market prawn as it helps improve color for my previous red/gold arowanas, my other fish for the most part exception being the gatfs, all eat it. They are good at de shelling it themselves so maybe it's the live feeders fed on flowerhorn diet. I use to do daily water changes but during the winter I was getting by with one every two weeks lol. Just the other day, my brasi dorado took a chunk out of my vatf tail which I was pretty pissed about but I'm sure will grow back quickly.

KNH KNH Ive had my VATF for about a year and half. Got her if I remember correctly around 8" and now probably pushing around 16" although I haven't had the opportunity to really measure with her out of water. I'd say she's probably just under 2.5 years old so probably close to being mature soon.

How is she with smaller fish? Tolerant? I've also been led to believe these fish can't be easily sexed. How do you know it's female?

I believe I read in the ATF Sticky that if the fins see orange than its a male and if it's yellow with red tips than it's a female. I'm not quite sure where mine falls as it looks orange to me with a red tip.
