Would like to add to this thread about the fast regenerative power of ATFs.
They came from another state and took an 4 hours bus ride to the collection point. I heard thrashing sounds within the boxes as I drove home.
In summary, while me and my wife were holding to the bags inside the tank for to acclimatize the fishes - one of them jumped out and landed smack on the cement ground.
That was like a 6 foot drop considering the tank height of 2.5 feet, 3 foot stand and probably half a feet of jumping!!!
Quickly put it back into the tank and could see that it was upside down. Held it for like 5 seconds at the bubbles, wriggled free but still upside down.
Took about 20 mins of drifting around the tank before it floated normal but at stationary position. I knew it will survive but was badly damaged.
Moments later, I noticed another VATF had both eyes clouded - possibly damaged during transit / bagging / water in bag issues.
Added 3 kg of salt into the 300 gal tank and hoped for the best.
The next morning, I found the fish that jumped out had both eyes bulging and white - oh dear. 6 hours later - all the fishes have clear eyes and are shoaling around each other.
Just wow. Should have took some pics but didn't want to stress them further during that worrisome period.
