I can't belive no one thinks it was the leporinus. They're a notorious scale and fin eating fish. I'd say the leporinus was taking off his scales and he went to hide.

Oh, sorry to hear your little guy didnt make it! A tip for problems ahead, watch out for the pleco eating the slime coat on your Ornate, they have and usualy will do this to your bichir, the only kind of pleco that wont to my knowledge is the bristlenose pleco.

I thought about the leporinus too. He is an evil little monster but has not caused any real problems as they have been together since I got the midas. The ornate on the other hand is a new addition and likes to nose everybody as if checking for the best taste. I'll just have to keep an eye out.
