chameleons are hard to take care of and unless you upgrade veiled chameleons are not an option. The only chameleon that can stay in there for life is an pygmy chameleon. Crested geckos might work.

chameleons need high humidity too. Pretty much all arboreal lizards will need high humidity

some more than others with chams, some do well in screen enclosures.

yeah as far as Ive seen, most chameleon pros keep them in screen enclosures, mine was,you just mist the cage.I havnt studied all the types though so some may need more humidity than others.Well Im sure of it,just not which ones.I dont think the op is wanting the price tag though.Unforunatly, most dry climate herps are ground dwellers. You would want more floor space, you might want to keep that for some type of insects or such and since you really want a cool lizard just buy a cheap 20 long tank and use your skills to build a screen top for it.Then you can get what you really want. What about some fence lizards, heat, some rocks and a branch.Im sure some stay small, any other cali guys know more about them?Help this kid out.

Or you could make into that cage a seperate big plastic humidity box but what ever you get might go in it and stay all the time,I would look into the fence lizards to see what stays small or just do what I said in my last post.

check out these guys site, they sell screen cages and lots of herps, they are a good company and I would browse throught their shop and then just call them and tell the m what you got and ask what they recomend.Dont forget they are running a shop too so dont feel you got to ask them a million things in one sitting. But they should let you know some options.

"I built this enclosure type thing and i want to put some kind of lizard or something"

I'm cheeky at the best of times, but I'd suggest going with the 'something' - then you should put glass all around the inside of the enclosure, silicone up the corners ... and you could keep fish in there!!!
