"I built this enclosure type thing and i want to put some kind of lizard or something"

I'm cheeky at the best of times, but I'd suggest going with the 'something' - then you should put glass all around the inside of the enclosure, silicone up the corners ... and you could keep fish in there!!!

lol.

What about one of the hundreds of species of house geckos?

I was going to say that but arent those from places like hawaii and other tropical zones?

yeah as far as Ive seen, most chameleon pros keep them in screen enclosures, mine was,you just mist the cage.I havnt studied all the types though so some may need more humidity than others.Well Im sure of it,just not which ones.I dont think the op is wanting the price tag though.Unforunatly, most dry climate herps are ground dwellers. You would want more floor space, you might want to keep that for some type of insects or such and since you really want a cool lizard just buy a cheap 20 long tank and use your skills to build a screen top for it.Then you can get what you really want. What about some fence lizards, heat, some rocks and a branch.Im sure some stay small, any other cali guys know more about them?Help this kid out.

fenced lizards or blue bellies are hardy when i was a kid i would catch them and throw them in my 45 only a heat laamp during the day, all you need for substrat was bark and throw some real plants and crickets onces a week and your good to go,. i cought some medium sized ( 3 inchs) that got i beleive maxed out about 7 inches and was quiet active had it for about 1 year along with 4 other 5 inchers they stayed 5 inchs for awhile but the one that got to 7 was my baby but im not 100% sure on how big they get but thats the biggest i seen but they are hard and easy to take care of and not picky eaters at all lol.. anyways hope this helps

anyone else know the full size of a fenced lizard?

thanks for the help everyone, the cats will be out of the thing by next wednesday, and i get my paycheck on that friday, and then ill be off to the store to get the crap that i need. now i have several questions..

--jason, thanks for all your help, i was wondering if you had any specs on how to make that humidity box?

--house geckos sound like they would be good, or what about a crested gecko, they are kinda pricey but theyre really cool and a friend of mine has one (in less than ideal conditions i might add) and his is really. Or maybe a crocodile gecko, do they have special needs?

--what is the basic stuff that just about any herp needs? like the stuff that i need to get straight off the bat even if i dont know what lizard im getting?

--about the chameleons, they seem kinda tough to care for, and i dont think im ready for them yet

once again thanks everyone, once i get the "tank" set up ill sruely post up some pics

crested and crocodile skinks require a higher humidity...
House geckos, depends on what species you can get a hold of, but they will range in their environmental needs.
