sorry but I don't know where you are getting your figures? 20- 25 is way off...

I have had 1000-8000 in a tank at a time.. if you want proof of this check my site...

ps.. the eggs will start to hatch in about 24 hours.. at that time you can suck them up into a large bucket and move them to another aquarium... its best if the fry tank has nothing on the bottom.. ie rocks or sand... you will also need to start breeding brine shrimp to feed them... they can start eating the brine shrimp at about 40 hours old... good luck

Your definatly the expert, ive never gotten mine to breed, they pair up and stuff but no eggs, freind told me to keep only 25 together or they eat eachother. Thanks for straightening it out, should have known

Your eggs did not just disappear! First off you should know this… the first few times that reds breed in a home aquarium the female tends to eat them… This tends to only last for one or two spawns until the male has had enough… the male will then chase the female away and start circling the eggs.. wafting oxygen over them, among other thing…The female will stay close as well.. But will keep her distance from the male.. because he is in attack mode.. ie.. defending mode I should say..

if you intend on raising the fry… you will NEED to remove the eggs after the first 24 hours and place them in a clean well cycled aquarium… its best to use a sponge filter because of the low water flow…if you want most info on this subject.. check out www.DontGoInTheWater.com

My p's laid eggs again. And now, separated them. I'm excited. All i need to find out is, what will they eat?

wow! that's great! about how old are your spawning p's? just wondered how old they are when they start breeding.
