my rant on fw sharks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes from what i can understand there are no real pure freshwater sharks, there are sharks that CAN move to freshwater....there might even be brackish sharks, but no freshwater.

I'm guessing it's more of a selling ploy for uninformed aquarists than a biologist thinking that's a great name..
I agree. I don't think as many folks would buy a bala carp, irridescent catfish, rainbow minnow, etc. :) :)

What do Apollo sharks look like? I can`t seem to find them on the internet.
dont have google? :grinno:

I may be well off, because i was doing research with this a long time ago... but i think there might be a shark that is from aus that is fw, but is endangered and can't keep. Then again, might just be me BS again LOL. Red-tailed sharks are my fav. Real sharks them lol! But there is obviously sharks that end up in fw, most notoriously, the bull shark.

I think the whale cat looks damn like a whale to me. Its amazing.

"While bull sharks are commonly found along coastlines, bays, and harbors, they also frequent a most uncommon shark habitat—freshwater rivers.
The species has been spotted 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) up the Amazon River in South America and dwell in Lake Nicaragua, a freshwater lake in Central America. Bull sharks have traveled up the Mississippi River as far north as Illinois and are regularly spotted in India's Ganges."
