If you can remember I was the one that had the ammonia in my tap a few days ago. Well after adding some Prime my ammonia went down and everything was fine, but my retic seemed to have lost alot of his color. Yesterday I noticed my Ph had jumped from 7.0 to 7.8-8.0! I added some aquarium salt to see what would happen.

Well this morning I tested my Ph and it is back down to about 7.2, but my retic does not look happy at all. His breathing is labored and there is a white fuzziness around parts of his disk! My motoro seems as happy as she can be.

What should I do? My retic was such a fat and happy healthy ray!

:swear:

i don't know man I sorta would like to know the answer to that as well..........if you see the pictures of my retic that i just posted you'd see that he is really messed up. A ornate messed mine up and he has really labored breathing as well

Do there fins grow back after having chunks taken out of them??

Yes depending on the size I guess, but my motoro had some bite marks that have almost healed completly now.

My retic was my first ray and I will be pissed if I lose him b/c of the water company!

Just some more facts to help you guys help me.

The ray has gained all of his color back since yesterday, but still has the fuzz and labored breathing.

The ray is in with my motoro and I wish I could seperate them because I think she has A.D.D. lol and is always doing somthing.

Last night he was active like he usually is even though he lost his color, but of course not the case this morning.

Thats all I can think of for right now. HELP!!

Don't screw with the PH. PH swings kill rays leave it where it's right now.

Really the best u can do right now is waterchanges, and try switching his food to something he really likes. Whenever my motoro starts acting different i go right to the store and pick up nightcrawlers, I think he could be on his deathbed and he would still accept worms.

Dont be adding all kinds of salt, if you do disolve it first before dropping it to the bottom.....throw some worms in the tank with it...post some pictures of it so we can see what is going on iwth it....any way you can filter teh water before it goes in the tank or from another tank.....maybe move it to a seperate tank so your motoro dont get effects of what is going on with the added salt and water....

I have no other tank available because they all have piranha.

I added the salt to the filter. The dose I heard is one table spoon/ five gallons but I just did one teaspoon/5 gallons.

I have the tank covered with a blanket to keep as much light out as possible but I guess I could try to take some pics.

Sounds like your doing the best you can....a water change would help out tons, but with the way your water is its not a good thing....I'd almost go buy distilled water or large drinking water containers, or go to a friends house that uses differnt water and bring it over.....kinda need a water change there...

I am thinking about going to the LFS to get some R/O water but do you think that the change would cause even more stress becuse my params are fine right now?

Here are some pics. I labeled them but the font was too small. Any how the lower arrow points to the fuzz and the right arrow points to the curl. I took five pics but this one (the last one) is the only one with curl. Is it good that he is not doing it continuously?
