Last week I had four rays. Now I'm down to two. I'm pretty sure that I'll be down to one soon. I am so depressed and dejected.

It all started about 10 days ago when a female leo went on a hunger strike. I kept up with regular water changes and hoped it would turn around, but she started to curl and died on Monday afternoon. Everyone else seemed fine, so I wasn't terribly concerned.

By the next day my male leo-hen and female pearl weren't eating. Last night the leo-hen started to curl. It was dead this morning. The pearl isn't curling but also still isn't eating. The only ray that's eating is a small leo-hen, but he's also spending most of his time buried in the sand.

I've only been keeping fish for about five years and nothing like this has ever happened to me before. It really, really sucks. I couldn't really afford these fish to begin with and I sure as hell can't afford replacing them.

[I'm not even looking for advice because I've pretty much read it all. Ammonia and nitrite are at 0... nitrates are a bit high, but they always have been on this tank. If anyone has any bold suggestions, I'm all ears, but I don't see this ending well.]

DId you move? New water source? Do you have a UV on the tank? How often do you change your water?

Didn't move, no new water source (although I'll call the water company today to make sure that they didn't add something new). No UV. WCs are about 50% twice a week. Filtration is a sump and two large canisters.

Here's a bold suggestion, not trying to be n ass, if u have a friend that knows rays n has an established tank then move them there for a bit. I have had two rays die on me before n they ere cheap motoros that I had for a few years a piece n that sucked beyond belief, I feel for ya, your fish are much more expensive and it sounds like you were doing everything right sorry for ur loss.

I don't have any friends with tanks, though it's a good suggestion. This feels unbelievably crappy. The ray that I've had for the longest is the pearl (3 years). The one that I just chucked in the dumpster was 2 years old. I raised it from one month.

Sorry for what you're going through......

Do you have a way to check TDS? Probably nothing, but could be something? Should be able to find someone local into reefs that could help you get a reading if you don't have means.

How long since the canisters have been cleaned?

How big is the tank/sump?

When was the canisters last cleaned?
