This is about my RD. Im doing this so i can share about him as well as kind of remain more involved in him so i dont lose interest. Not sure how much sense that made lol. I usually can decide pretty quick if i like a fish or not, ive gotten rid of a whole new stock of fish in just days if i dont like them. I like this guy a lot so far and i would like to keep it that way. Only other fish i really liked was my old Texas...

Anyways. He is in a 75 gallon tank with a baby Convict that survived from when his parents where in the tank (sibling all were eaten) and a Red Tail Shark which i got yesterday. So far the shark is doing good (early to tell but if he wanted to kill it he would only need a few seconds... Could change though) and is swimming in the open.

The RD is becoming very aggressive to me with this new tank set up. It doesnt really give him the option to hide (he has a pot but hates it apparently) so he has started trying to bite me. Today during WC i was moving some rocks and he charged my hand... I got away though lucky! He has also started eating good now, i think he has settled in well.

Still wondering what to name him. I like Rico (exotic) and Brutus (badass). Also thinking about looking into a female for him or trying to set one up for buy in a few months but that would be risky im sure.

Here he is:

Really bad pic i will try to get a better one in a few. Btw, he is 11 inches long!

Never heard of that guy lol.

I dont think he is thaaaat evil though haha.

Over the weekend i was out of town. Came back and the tank was in order, but he did smash all the fake plants around pretty good. Some of them are in more peices than they were before i left lol. I also think he managed to chomo the Convict fry... Sad to say its been MIA since i got back. He wont be getting any more for a little while though... The Cons in the 29 ate the babies because the didnt get fed for a while I guess. Already in mAting colors again though...

However, the Shark still swims! In fact it is in the open a decent amount of time. I havent seen the RD go after it once.

yes on his back but it was from running into a rock. he is still scared of the RD, understandably, but it hasnt attacked him yet... hopefully it doesnt. done better than expected so far
Buy a Breeder Net for $5 just in case - an extra 10 gallon runs about $2 more.....it' not something you want to wait to buy until you need it....WHEN you finally do need it and you realize it, you're lucky if you can save the fish getting beat to death 50% of the time, usually the beatings happen while the lights are out so you won't know until you have about 30 minutes, TOPS - to net it up and move it and dose w/ salt and stress coat.

Also, was it a fin or a scale?

You own a Killer,.....at LEAST one breeder net or hospital tank is a given if you are trying to house anything with a male Amphilophus. axs377 axs377 duanes duanes Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 cich78 cich78 RD. He is awesome but my opinion if you want the other fish to survive he needs to be alone.. even a mate cannot stay with him long.. and yes do try to feed him on a regular basis or he may try to attack the one that doesn't feed him often enough.. I have been bitten a few times..not fun!
