cool :)

Don't understand the arguing here. Cichlids just tend to vary a lot in temperament as many of us who actually keep decent sized CA community tanks have found out. If you have 50 red devils, I'd bet a handful would be relatively mellow, a good number psychotic killers, and the rest would fall in between. Also taking into account tank size, sexual maturity, size of tank mates, etc...

Agreed. Not too sure why anyone would get bent out of shape about the point that clekchau was attempting to make. I think that Tom summed this entire discussion up nicely. :)

If you have a big enough tank it could work, the OP doesn't have a big enough tank so It didn't work.

Thanks everyone for the helpful input. I now have a 125 gal acrylic aquarium that we purchased from someone on craigslist. It will be for Oscars. I'll be keeping the Red Devil alone in the 55 gal with minimal decorations so it will have more room for swimming. They have been separated, and now the Oscar is doing great and seems to be a lot more happy.

Now I'm trying to decide if I'll go with white sand or a smooth gravel in the new tank. Which would be a better choice?

I forgot to add some pictures, so here they are:

This is Gremlin, my Red Devil, in his temporary home.

Here are the Oscars (War Pig, Master Shake, and Night Wolf) that are going to be moved to the 125 gal.

I like using PFS-known as pool filter sand, natural color, cheap not as bright white or small grained as play sand which some people like

from cel

The new aquarium is actually a 120 gal and not 125.
