My red texas project has begun!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's ok that no one is interested. I''ll just use this as a journal for myself :)

Mom isn't fanning the eggs or picking out the fungused eggs. Looks like 25% of the eggs have fungus.

Oh ok I didn't know you got some already.

Put an airstone by the pot. An try to pick out the bad eggs with tweezers. It sounds like it might have been her first batch.

great faders,i wanted to know that at what size do they start breeding i wanted to know as i wanted to breed texas .Congrats and also keep us updated

Yea I got lucky and found 2 small males at a LFS that the owner took on a trade in and a local MFK member gave me a female calico for free. I also got my lastest male RT from him.

As much as i really want to, Im just going to leave them. This is her first so I want the mom to learn how to take care of her eggs. Hopefully the fungus doesnt spread too much because the eggs are fertilized and I see little eyes inside of them. :headbang2

Thanks guys.

Looks like around 40-50% of the eggs have fungus.

That's cool I wish I could find some calicoes in my area.

Yeah its better if she learns herself. I'm not trying to be negative but its a slim chance any fry will survive if she's not doing her job.

I used to randomly find a calico cons at various Pet Supllplies Plus but ever since I was actually looking for one I never found one.

They should be ready to hatch tomorrow so we'll see. If they don't make it then its ok. I'm just happy my male is confirmed fertile.

Which one? Well actually all of my RT originated from CJBARTH.

Hello, one of the pictures you have looks like it could be a different breed of fish. I may be wrong, heck I've been wrong before, and you may have breed him yourself, but you may want to research it. The picture I'm referring to is the one that states "ungraded fertile male. He's bulky and chunky. A monster in the making." That fish strongly resembles a Carpintis Escondido. I only know this because I am a proud owner of one. I hope you get some nice fish from your project.
