My red texas project has begun!

Hello, one of the pictures you have looks like it could be a different breed of fish. I may be wrong, heck I've been wrong before, and you may have breed him yourself, but you may want to research it. The picture I'm referring to is the one that states "ungraded fertile male. He's bulky and chunky. A monster in the making." That fish strongly resembles a Carpintis Escondido. I only know this because I am a proud owner of one. I hope you get some nice fish from your project.

Yes it is a male unfaded Red Texas. I made him by crossing an Escondido and Blood parrot. Looking at your progress I shouldnt have sold him. LOL... Anyway here is a pic of his sister who is fully faded. As you can see she is just as beefy. Sorry its a bad picture.Good luck with your project!....121712192702.jpg

With my batch with the 2 unfaded RT I would estimate about 30-40% faders, 20% look texan with red cheeks or red specks in body and the rest are texan looking with a few oddballs.

Ill definitely try and keep all of them to see if there any late bloomers. Would you take a guess on how many % faders you have out of your batch?
My bad 2 female calicos! And 1 "female" red texas, right? LOL JK.

Yup. Hopefully he'll pair up with one of my green texas' so I can check his fertility. If he doesn't, I'll just wait and grow him out.
