Sounds good. I wouldn't worry too much, like I said, they do this a lot. Just keep an eye on him. He'll probably spit up most of them on his own anyway.

wow you learn something every day..thats alot of rocks. i hope he will be okay..

RTC do this all the time, go with your first instinct and feed him a bunch to make him regurgitate, it may take several weeks to get them all out though. PLEASE DO NOT hold him upside down by the tail and shake him! No offense, but that has got to be one of the most asinine suggestions I've heard lol. Regurgitation is going to make a big mess so be prepared to do some big water changes and DEFINITELY change out those rocks to sand or something else small and harmless.

YUP....... Very common. I've had some that did and some that dont  Just leave him alone he should be fine. Usually when he's hungry he'll get rid of the rocks for some normal food. I once had a 24" RTC eat a 35mm film canister and had it in his gut for over a month :screwy: He ate and acted normal but had a big cylinder shape in his side :D He threw it up and never ate anything he wasnt supposed to again.

Hold him upside and shake him
Thats some real funny advice.

wow !! Crazy cats..love them though:WHOA:

wow, I take back what I said about him dying. I have been around RTC's a while, and whenever they swallow too many rocks I have seen a few die. God willing, he will regurgitate, but like it has been said, prepared to do massive WC's. Don't want stomach acid floating around! I would cut feedings until he starts swimming around, and then give him his favorite food to see if he vomits. Good luck, and whoever suggested turning him upside down and shaking...:banhim:

Let us know what happens as soon as possible.

Like one post said maybe they do regurgitate them naturally, can I ask what the other spotted catfish are that are in with them???????????????

My RTC has eaten two big suction cups. Looked horrible in his belly, you could see the shape of it sticking out! BUT - he absolutly DID cough it up. The first time - RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I was so happy!

When I replaced the heater and suction cup with a really strong one ... it wasn't strong enough ... he at that too. It came up 5 days later!

I've since removed everything that was smaller than his mouth. He's left with a powerhead, heater and the filter stuff. NO rocks or gravel! I was told, RTCs eat gravel when the weather turns. It's to keep them submerged in the water during turbulance. Maybe, maybe not. But let him cough the rocks out ... I'm 99% sure he will ... :)
