Nothing special nut there it is. Recently added about 50 lbs of live rock and a coralife skimmer. Stock consists of a black and white clown, a regular clown, a misbar clown, a neon psuedu, a yellow tang, a sailfin tang, a yellow coris wrasse, bicolor blenny, lawnmower blenny and a koran angel, lots of hermits and snails, 3 emerald crabs, and a coral banded shrimp. Corals consists of a heliofungia, 3 types of acans, 2 types of favias, 6 different zoas, lunar eclipse, torch coral, candy canes, chalice and an abundance of others. Also have a yellow sabae, a rose, and a condalyctus :naughty:01-05-12.jpgLS 01-05-12.jpgRS 01-05-12.jpg

Ahh, that's what that is. I was going to say, clean your glass! lol

Couple questions..
1. How do your clowns get along since you have more than 2?
2. What is the yellow thing? Is that an anemone?
3. Have you been feeding the yellow thing and the long tentacle plate? Those plates are generally pretty tough to keep and the tips on yours are a bit deflated. If you haven't been feeding it, I would feed it pretty much anything once a week or so. My plate eats piles of pellets.

All in all it looks good. I like the rockwork, open with some depth to it. Very nice.

Your tank looks great! Like above just glass needs cleaning (dont worry I know what you go through....a drop of water from the tank touches glass....all over lol)
Do you have a sump? If you do you should put the skmmer in the sump, in the first chamber so micro bubbles are eliminated.

Looks great! compared to the Algae riddled tank you started with - great job of cleaning that up. If I'm not mistaken the yellow anemone is the Sebae. The anemone on the sand has a green interior which would suggest flower pot but tenticles look BTA - either or very cool.

My Q would be - did that giant anemone morph twice it looks like 4 or is it's mouth wide open? Also are you running monthly carbon, theres a few things in thier that can emitt toxins, if not you might want to think about it. The penguin would be a great place to put it.

1. How do your clowns get along since you have more than 2?
I just picked up a 40 gal reef stocked with the regular clown and the black and white and koran angel. The tank had about 80 or so pounds of live rock and had been established for two years. It also had the coralife skimmer as well. I traded a standard 55 gal with ac 70, complete set up including stand for it. We traded straight across. The guy wanted to go back to cichlids... anyway the reason I explain that is because I just added the two clowns. I only had the misbar before. I was planning on turning in the reg clown and just keeping the mis bar and black and white but thought I'd give this a try. I'm building a stand for my 240 atm and if the fight too much I'll trade one in when I'm making the swap to the larger tank. Planning on doing the same with the angel.

2. What is the yellow thing? Is that an anemone?
The yellow thing on the bottom right is a yellow sabae anemone. Some have spectulated that it is dyed in another forum, however, I have seen many online and a few in other pet stores looking like this...

3. Have you been feeding the yellow thing and the long tentacle plate? Those plates are generally pretty tough to keep and the tips on yours are a bit deflated. If you haven't been feeding it, I would feed it pretty much anything once a week or so. My plate eats piles of pellets.
I feed my condalyctis, yellow sabae, heliofungia, and rose fresh market shrimp from foods co every two weeks. Each gets a half a shrimp. Should I bump it up to once a week? Also, I took these shots immediately after tearing the whole tank apart and rescaping it with the new rock. Unfortunately, I have not seen my yellow coris wrasse since I did this and am afraid he may have been trapped since he burrows... :(

All in all it looks good. I like the rockwork, open with some depth to it. Very nice.

Thank you much... I took about 3 hrs to rescape it like that. Surprisingly, I nailed it in one try. When everything settled in and the water cleared I didn't have to move a single rock. I've found that I've always had a pretty good eye for designing a tank lol

The skimmer overflowed last night and I had about 5 gal of water on my floor. Thank god I own and my house is tile :) It's tricky finding a balance between enough skimming and too much lol

I cleaned the glass before taking the pictures although I am sure I missed a spot or two :) It's the microbubbles from the skimmer. I do not have a sump or I would. I'm working on a stand for my 240 with a 135 sump

Looks great! compared to the Algae riddled tank you started with - great job of cleaning that up. Thanks. It was tough getting that taken care of. The previous owner had let it go out of control. Im just glad it wasn't all over my tank. Just on a few of the rocks and corals I got from him. So far I have bought or traded for two fully established reefs after starting my own 40 gal. Now i'm up to a 75 and it is stuffed to the rim which is awesome... not to mention that I believe I am well under $500 with this system :) Still getting the hang of salt though after 15 yrs of fresh. If I'm not mistaken the yellow anemone is the Sebae. You sir are correct! The anemone on the sand has a green interior which would suggest flower pot but tenticles look BTA - either or very cool. Actually it is a heliofungia, or a plate coral. Pretty sweet.

My Q would be - did that giant anemone morph twice it looks like 4 or is it's mouth wide open? Which one are you refering to? The yellow sabae or the plate coral? If you're refering to the plate coral there real similar to anemones but they have a hard exoskeleton under the fleshy tentacles. Also are you running monthly carbon, theres a few things in thier that can emitt toxins, if not you might want to think about it. The penguin would be a great place to put it.
I have not run carbon and you are correct about the toxins. I have just been trying to stay on top of my water changes.

Thanks for the comments
