I think they would but first there has to be some sort of insident. I mean when you look at all these boids there trying to push these laws on there was the pythons being in the Everglades which the media took the story and made it 20 times bigger and worse then it really was then there was the incident were the guy in central Florida kept his python (it was big, cant remember the size though) in his house and forgot to close the cage so it got out and climbed in there new born baby's crib and constricted the baby to death. I mean things that if you step back and look at the facts then you would see that its the media blowing the pythons in the everglades way out of proportion and the baby incident while yes its sad the father should have known the risk of keeping the snake near the babies room like that and if you think about it the snake was just hunting like every snake does, whether it is a small child or a wild hog out in the ever glades. AND THEN you heard about the media saying that the pythons were eating everyones beloved pets. I mean how many times have you heard about old grannys poodle being eaten by an alligator when the dog gets to close to the water. Same thing just different animal. So i think that it can really happen to any herp once there is something big enough were the media gets ahold of it, blows it out of proportion, and the majority of the population gets worried about things that dont effect them or that they dont know all the facts. Then thats when the senators and what not start trying to pass bills like these as they focus on what the people say which is influenced about the media.
My 2 cents, hope it made sense.
