Interesting that you cant get Cyclura in there, Ive seen a few canadian Cyclura keepers but I suposse they are few and far between. The probs that your facing breeding your monitors are not impossible to overcome if you really wanted to. If I were you I would get at least one extra female to be shure. If they are not socialized you can only introduce them to each other if the female is ready to mate wich however can be hard to gess, would be great if you had a neutral territory area for them to meet. The egg laying chamber has to be temperature and humity controled, argus eggs are very unforgiving of less then optimal conditions like most large lizard eggs, turtle and snake breeders tend to be quite spoiled in comparison as thouse eggs are considerably more resilient. Keep your argus on the thin side, offer a variety of foods, uv ligth (not an absolute necessity but for shure stimulating mentaly and physiologically) and offer them envoiromental enrichment (new deco, lots of space, direct sun in the summer, harmless live prey like huge insects, etc). A stimulated and exercized lizard is a chilled one and less likely to become agressive at mating. With a bit of luck you will hatch some of those. Good luck as well with your mollucans.

By the way do you know the story of that Canadian lady that was able to breed big head turtles Platysternon megacephalon?

The argus breeding is on Pause for me... The problem is more finding the eggs trampled on the ground or half eaten. I moved the argus at my partner's place since I do not have time for them anymore, and he is trying the female with another male thats is more her size and look more compatible. I only bought them to watch them feed and move around. I like keeping my male big and strong, he is much larger then the regular male argus I have seen... So I won't cry over failed breeding attempts, I am already satisfied with having the privilege to touch them.

I've never heard about the turtles, no... I'm located in the east, most known breeders are located in the west of Canada unfortunately. I don't have access to a lot of reptiles where I am, plus the city I just moved in have crazy severe by-laws for reptiles, unlike Mississauga where you can keep venomous snakes, I technically can't own boids that exceed 8ft in lenght or any species of varanids, tegus or iguanas! So besides ball pythons morph, there's nothing fancy here and the big breeders are far away! :P

I'm not too active on the reptile forums anymore, I'm a moderator on a french reptile site and it's already a chore going there responding to messages. But I'm sure the story could be found on Reptilescanada.com in the turtle/tortoise section for sure.

Replite legislation can indeed be a pain, we here cant keep any of the larger snake species either. There was a time we werent even allowed to have ball pythons, fortunatly that has passed.

My only Xanthic female left (old and new pictures, size didn't vary much in size in 3 years since she was a picky eater):

One of the males I imported that I sold to a friend, picture is like a year old:

I've been searching on my reptile forum for some other pics and I just CAN'T seem to find them, it's so weird... I know I have more pictures of my other females who died, I must have. Same with the other males I sold.

Oh well, Here's a pic of my male's irridescence:

I really need to take new pictures of this guy soon... But the thing is, it's EXTREMELY hard to take a pic of that snake if I'm not holding it... You can't just put a moluccan on the ground and expect him to stay still and smile for the camera lol.... So I'll have to get someone to hold the camera/snake for me.

He's due for a shed soon too, so I'll try to get some nice photos of him all bright and yellow.

*urgh sorry If I'm making some many spelling, punctuation or grammar errors! Kinda screws my brain when I jump from english to french
