I had 2 bubbler disks in there when I just had my single retic and she seemed to hate it haha

Was she "playing" on it all the time. from my experiment rays love bubbles my rays would be pissed if i took there bubbles away haha. might wanna put it back in man something for them to play on/in.

Air stones and air pumps do not directly add any oxygen to speak of to the water, the oxygen is added by gaseous exchange by surface agitation, as long as the surface ripples the oxygen goes in be it air stone, filter outlet or power head.

I have 3 returns from my external filter and the sump rippling the water surface plus a large koralia pump pointing at the water surface for massive movement and surface agitation.

Many owners see their rays playing in bubbles but mine paid it no attention that I saw so I took it out as air pumps are noisy and the pipes can be ugly.

ya, mine love bubbles.. they are always playing on the airstones, or swimming in and out of the bubbles..
here is a pic of one of my tanks, I set most of my tanks up the same way. Long airstones at each end and a round stone in the middle. On this one, one of my filters outlests are facing up for some surface movement and my 1500gpm powerhead moves the water around even more.. so I have plenty of surface and tank movement with the help of all airstones also and lots and lots of bubbles...

any tips on burying the airstone? also, any advice on getting the hosing on the wall of the tank better? these suction cups are terrible and the airstone keeps coming up from under the sand.

oh and what size tank is that? 125? it looks good I'm gonna copy kind of haha

thank you, pictures DO NOT do them justice they would not get the sand off of them to show off their real colors haha.

better shots....

I just put the Airstones under the sand. The air will find its way out and make a nice wall. Does take a few days or even a week for the airstones to absorb water and start making a nice curtin of water out of them, but it will in time. Not exac sure what kind of stones you got, so it kinda depends.. If they will not stay under the sand, turn your airpump off for about 3 min. Let them just sit and turn back on the airstone will get water in it and then be a lttle heavier. Just play with it. It will work
Also, I used suction cups like there here on ebay for my airlines. Come in a lot of 10 for around $3.50. can sometimes find them cheaper on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Aquarium-Co2-Ai...205?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa6c25f8d
they work good to clean up your airlines in your tank.
its a 150 gal tank by the way.. have two of them and 2 250 gal tanks set up almost the exact same way. that picture was taken when my Motoros were in it, now mot retics are in it and Motoros are in the 250 gal tanks. Have been for awhile. WOrking on new/last tanks for them. 400gal pond tanks. custom made..

Thats what I had done as well. Though I need to route the lines closer to the corner or at least away from some of my silk plants as they get caught on the lines and then make them stick out like a sore thumb. lol
