My Rio Hondo carpintis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah, I figured at least 75. but that is an easier size to manage.
yours probably growing like crazy with the quality conditions, water + all that tank....

Trace, try setting your cam mode to "action" tonight, + shine more light in tank.

are his eyes gold?

looks great on camera phone, thats how we know its actually a nice looking fish!!! A expensive camera and some serious photo editing will make any fish look wayyyy better then it actually is!!!!

Very true. I feel that if you don't feel like you can share them on mfk without heavy editing then you are keeping them for the wrong reasons. Just let the fish speak for themselves;) most of us know that they look even better in person. I do wish I had a decent camera though as some people on here take some really gorgeous pics. I'd love to be able to do the same. Not that I could if I did!

I was just wondering if his blue pearls aren't being shown clearly because of the motion blur.

Ya that is the case. The farther down the body the less distinguished they are but he has pearls everywhere. Especially when he is is one of his moods;) I can't wait to pair him up his colors will be off the charts! The females of this variant are even more beautiful but I sadly lost my big female to a pair of trimac in the night after a water change.

ive always liked the carpintis complex... however i have had ZERO luck with Herichthys in general. the only time i had any that put on size and color was when i had them in an outdoor pond over last summer. i got four of these rio hondo varient about 6 months ago, and also got some larger 4-5" cyanoguttatus and lost all of them. i dont get it...my south americans THRIVE and even my centrals do well (parachromis sp.) the problem i always had was they would darken up, look ratty, and die..one by one, while other fish in the same tank would thrive? ive given up, but your dude is awesome! naturally im jealous!
