my room smells horrible

It smells like someone farted and then died in my room thanks to my 55 gallon tank just did a 50% water change and then it started to smell HORRIBLE i cant even step into my room HELP whats going on and how can i stop it. Got a 9' jag and a 3' RD that i cant catch

does it smell of eggs? If so it is ammonia. This smell can occur if tank water is left standing for a long time (months) i had it when i took out my external filter that had been turned off for months. It really hums but you'll just have to open a window and oust it!
 
i did my last water change about a week and a half ago and just did a 50% change yesterday everything was fine a lil smelly nothing unusual but today i come home from work and it stinks to high heaven, opened both windows still stinks

ps-nothing died everyones active it just smells
 
Yes, try adding carbon to the filter and do another water change. Should help can't hurt.
 
Is there a canister filter on the tank that hasn't been changed for months? power outage?

do 20 percent water changes + gravel vac every other day for a couple of weeks and add carbon to the filter
 
I bet you stirred up trapped gases in your tank. Or you over feed
