I love s/a cichlids too. I'm for some reason drawn to cichlids that do well in groups. Lots of s/a cichlids live and do well in loose groups. It somehow looks very natural and I like to see the interaction between the fish.
Another huge plus if you like to keep fish from the same region is the vast amount of non cichlid tank mates available.
A lot of them are also more gentle and your scape.
A very enjoyable thread that I'm sure i will look at many times.

Thank you robmcd robmcd . If only my wife would let me. Doing a large tank with some Crenicichla Cincta, Cichla Ocellaris Brokopondo, Hoplarchus Psittacus....I can go on and on. I appreciate the kind remarks!
 
Your tanks are beautiful and you have indeed made me want to get into south american cichlids more. The main thing holding me back now is weight.

Thank you. Do you mean the weight of a setup? SA cichlids come in all shapes and Crenicichla in particular is among the most versatile Genus of fish. Let me know if you want some suggestions and I’d be happy to help.
 
Your tanks are absolutely beautiful and easily some of the best put together and thought out setups I’ve seen. I really like what you did with the pothos up top. How did you do that? I may have to copy your idea if you don’t mind.

Thank you brotha.

I drilled some holes up top on the acrylic and simply put some pothos cuttings in them with the ends of the cuttings sitting in the water. They’ll grow new roots. Super easy plant and they’ll use the excess nutrients in the water column to grow.

Yes I do mean the weight of the set up however not in the way you're thinking. You see, my fish room is not on a concrete slab so I'm pretty much maxed out on tanks as it is so far with my tanks I have up. I am about to move onto a concrete slab in the somewhat near future so once I have everything worked out I'll be able to set up a few more possibly. I am then limited by size as I can only get a tank so big through the door.

Oh got it. You can always change up stock in one of your tanks! Lol.
