You're putting these fish in an uncycled tank? (I'm trying to understand without reading 8 pages)

I'll say it 1 more time;
I have never cycled a tank with feeders or cheap, hardy fish. Never. I have never had problems. A couple times, I have even set up a tank, filled it with water, let the filter run for a couple hours, and then put fish in, and they're fine.

I know cycling is efficient and better, but I don't have the time. I don't want to lose my columbian sharks.

You can siphon a tank on the floor...
As long as part of the tubing goes down past the water line in the tank it works.

Thanks :)

I realize you are 15 but, by putting fish in an uncycled tank you wont have any problems... in short term. It is I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E for an uncycled, unseeded tank to have 0 ammonia in it. You aren't having any issues since, and I'm assuming, that you are using some sort of dechlorinator. So what you are not seeing is your fish's gills are burning, but not enough to kill them. The effect of gill burn is irreversible as well and will shorten your fish's life span from the longevity that it could have lived.

So lets say your fish passes at 4 years old. They may have lived 5, 6 or 7 years (maybe longer) had they been placed in a cycled tank.

I'll only say that once as well. I'm not looking to start an argument nor do I have time to argue. I have my own 15 year old to argue with.:ROFL:

you've kept your columbians in their current condition for 2 years, i'd say waiting another month to help out your other fish wouldn't have been a giant issue.

and since when is "i am 15 i can't ______" a valid reason for anything (unless the parents say you can't do/have). i started fish at 16 and bought my own stuff from there on out. 20 now and up to 8 tanks four of which over 100gal. so don't use the age excuse it's more of a i'm use to everything being given to me excuse. sorry if i offend you but everytime someone makes a suggestion you always play the i'm only 15 thing. if anything since you're low on funds you should be looking for used equipment instead of all new.

i don't live in cali but do yards not need mowed there? the elderly will always pay a kid to mow a yard but you have to go search things out.

15 actually is an excuse. Given that I can't drive, I can't get a job. I'm very limited. And where I live, pretty much every single person has gardeners.
