My Second Attempt At A Planted Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not to be a buzz kill but I think the ground cover plant is the same thing the Chinese sell for face rubs. Could be wrong but I think it will last for a few months then melt . Another forum was talking about it. I hope I'm wrong though cause it looks awesome

For a non predator tank, I really like cardinal tetras (lots of 'em) , maybe a couple of bristlenose plecos, a dozen or so otos, a couple of dozen nerite snails (zebras and tigers) and shrimp ( whatever color suits your fancy), maybe 10-12 celestial pearl danios. Your tank is looking good, though.

Really? Would hate to have them melt in such a short lifespan. I'll certainly keep everyone posted. For the time being, the carpet is getting thicker.

Thank you. I really like this list.

Think I just read what you just mentioned upon a brief research. Apparently, the person had the same success I've had in approximately the same time frame and they mentioned its short lifespan but no follow up. This leads me to question why these seeds are so inexpensive.

Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I'll reach out to the seller...maybe he can answer a few questions.

I know...right? They look amazing. I'm waiting to hear from the seller. I also questioned two other sellers for the same or similar product. Apparently, most, if not all are sold from Hong Kong. They are not falsely advertising their product...what you see is what I got and the result is as advertised.

The question now is if there's longevity in the growth of this plant.

Haven't looked into what livestock will coexist peacefully since all I've been concerned with was with the plants. Will shrimp be picked off with some of the mentioned fishes? I like roseline barbs....won't they feast on shrimp?

If you have any ornamental type of shrimp that breeds in your tank, then yes, any fish you keep (including ottos) will likely eat some if not all the fry due to their small size...

Now onto the part about the seeds, can you let me know the name of the store you got them from??? Coz i live in Hong Kong and quite regularly go out to fish street so can see if they have this product and what its all about...

Apparently, many sellers of these seeds also sell other products (household goods, clothing & jewelry)...online businesses. Many come from Hong Kong. If you can check in with the retailers where you're from about these seeds, that would be great.

This is the link to the seller I purchased the seeds from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201673299399

If it melts, try staurogyne repens. Doesn't require CO2. Just make sure your tank is fully cycled before planting.
