Yes, I have fed duckweed, java moss, and frogbit to them. I haven't tried hornwort.

I too have 3 species of Metynnis, in a 75 gal planted tank (see below). My experience has been a bit different.

I maintain frogbit and duckweed in the tank (replenished every other week) and they like it.
At this time I have Java Fern (Microsorum), 2 different Cryptocoryne (tall one, green, and a short purplish one, probably balanseae), and another plant (tall, very leafy whose name I don't know). Fish have been in this tank for > 2 years. Everything in the tank is natural (not fake).

I started with plastic plants and over a few months changed fully to real plants.

F FJB i have been eye balling your tank. Am fully jealous of the pairing plants with SD. Very nice.

Look like nice fish. Nice tank too.
To see them in sufficient detail to attempt to identify them, need to center on one fish and take a close up.

That in its self is a challenge. My neighbor has them. Wow. They're impossible.

Here are some pictures. I took a video too and will post it later. There are two that have more pale spots and red anal fin. Four with more pronounced spots and the red cheek flash. 4 with spotted dorsal and red anal that are the more round. The others are more oval.

This last one in the middle of the picture has a black fringe to its tail sometimes.
