  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only use salt with my turtles, I just dump a bunch in after every WC...

Yup, hence the salt treatment. Mine had a little ulcerated spot once, which I swabbed with iodine...

Ok good, now I know we're on the same page. I've never had to treat a turtle for it but I know of the symptoms. How's your filtration? Sometimes dirty water can lead to it.

ya thats what im thinking caused it maybe, a cpl months ago i was away and had a so call friend take care of my animals, well he dint take to good of care of him bc when i picked him up after a month the tank looked like it never been cleaned, but that was like 6 months ago and he has had clean water and tank since, im guessing he got it b4 and it started only in a few spots and i over looked it tell now. will the stuff i put on his shell help at all for shell rot, it said it moistrizes and and nutiences and minerals to help strengthen the shell

I'm pretty sure it can help if you let them dry off for a few hours. Put your turlte in an empty tub for 2-3 hours a day with a lamp over it. Make sure the turtle can't over heat. I hear it help's to dry up the infected part of the shell. If you think it's serious, you might want to consider a visit to a herp vet.

ok thanks, ya def i was alrdy sayen if things get worse and dont get better ill take him in

Nobody mentioned this so I will...
Stop scrubbing his shell! Snappers grow a bit differently than other turtles. It's common for their shell to peel- this is how they grow!

Pretty much all species of turtles shed their scutes as well.
