wow! nice turtle.. i wish i could keep one, but they get too big and scary!!

Well they dont get as big as the alligator snapper but they get big enough to probly take my finger off. Im allready gettin a lil scared of her because she tried to get my the other day. Ive been bitten by worse but that doesnt mean I dont mind gettin bit. I had a 16" alligator bite me one time. Wasnt fun.

Well dont worry my little snapper will be fine with me. Im gonna be building her something big in the spring so she will have plenty of room to grow big. Shes gonna have a good life with me.

Good point, especially as it relates to those who dont have the animals well being at heart.Just yesterday I saw this guy standing on the corner with a sign and a stack of little containers that contained coin sized RES.It was about fifty degrees out and I yelled at him from my car window that they were to cold and his answer was that he had just brought them out.I saw kids over the summer with similar set ups and really felt bad for the turtles and I felt like punching this guy,but I feel that our friend with snapper will do his best for it.

Yes I hate seeing those people too that sell them in the little critter keepers. Last winter I had a customer come into my work and said there was a baby turtle swimming in the pond outside. The water was just about freezing so I brought the little one in and took him home. My sister has had him since then and hes doing great. If I wouldnt have taken him im sure he would have died. Its ashame people dont care enough to make sure the animals they have are taken good care of.

Right, and I dont know where these people are getting all these little turtles from, did'nt realize that RES were such prolific breeders.

Well out here in lancaster I know there was a dollar store that was selling them for like $10. Other then that I beleive you can get them in new york city. Its not legal but you can buy them. I think they must be a minimum of 4" in PA to be sold but im not positive on that.

Even though the RES's are prolific breeders doesnt mean they should be sold so they die. No matter how much we may dislike it, there is very little we can do to stop most of those people selling them. It sucks.

Agreed, and I think that you are correct about the size law.
