so has anyone used start right? i have used aquasafe many a times, but dont remember using start right. the aquasafe bottle does 100 gallons and the start right does 480, so i should be good for the rest of this month, as i use 5 gallon pales to do water changes ( use i use buckets still lol )

Yes, I have used it a long time ago.
Read the label.
Some water conditioners used to only treat cholorine, not choloramine.
Now I think most (if not all) will treat both.
It's safest to use a water conditioner that treats both.

Honestly, if I was at your stage (just getting tanks set up, figuring stuff out), I would not worry about holding females now. All fry do not need to be saved It's very easy to get into a situation where you have tons of tanks devoted to raising fry, only to find out that no one really wants them.
Focus on raising the fish that are in demand or that you want more of (Maybe OBs are in demand in your area? I don't know, but they aren't very popular here, although I like them)
