my submersible pump caught on fire!!!

i smelled something plastic melting
ran around the room trying to find out what was melting
then i seen this!
how does a pump catch on fire underwater?

i have no backup pump so the filter bb will die
lucky i was just re setting it up and theres no fish

im sorry i didnt mean it like that, its just if i heard that some where i would start laughing, mostly because i dont beleive them but you got pics and thats scary

I think there was air that was still trapped in the pump like most powerheads when u put em in water u have to shake all the bubbles out of them or it'll cause friction if it comes in contact with the motor which may had led to this.
