you sound like you are on the right track. mine got the fungus really bad and i thought that none of her fins were going to come back and she was going to die. her tail looked just as bad though. i wish that i had taken pics so i could show you. her tail looked like melted plastic. she has a normal tail now
you can take a pic of her now i want to see how well will it heal

she was in recovery for about six weeks. what i did was, i would come home from work and add extra salt to the tank. i would let her swim around in it for about a half an hour. then i would do a 25-50% water change. when she had the fungus, i would take out the carbon in her filter and add the ich cure at that point. i did that every day for two weeks. then, when her fins started growing back, i slowed it down to 2-3 times a week. i followed the directions on the ich meds and stopped with them when i was supposed to.
in the top picture, there is a spot right above her anal fin that is the only scar. it is hard to see except when you are totally zoomed in with the camera.

I think I remember something on this little guy. He looks like he should be a stunner! And hes only a baby!! Thank god cause his tail growing back is better than if he were old! I would suspect that it'll grow back. It might have a bit of cockeyed look but still cool! Excellent job by the way for saving him!!!
