This is my third Aimara since keeping fish. The first was kept solo and sold couple years back. The 2nd was too small and had to be shifted to a brother's place.

The guy came in at around 9 inches. Smallest guy in the tank but had lasted more than 2 weeks.

When released into the tank; lighter coloration and flaring all round - due to stress and new environment.

PB checking him out from the shadows. :)

Will update the growth and development of this guy and his mates soon.

Nice wolves.

Thanks guys.

Took a full tank shot just now and realized that the same fish above are shifting its colors to a golden sheen on the head.

Went up close and got a yawning shot.

This guy was bought as a Mala, but a couple of guys ID it as something else. Closer to an Intermedius. Have yet to take an upclose pic of its under jaw - he is about 13-14 inches now; I am worried bout getting bitten actually. :)

Fantastic update, that Mala looks quite unique! And a nice looking aimara too. Hope mine recovers quickly, I set up the divider already.

Thanks man. Best wishes to a speedy recovery for your Aimara.

I am also keeping a Dorado and Pleuro in this comm like you - fingers crossed that they won't do anything crazy to each other.

So far the use of driftwood and plants to give them some small territories is working. Besides that, there are a couple of fishes that go around the tank as distraction at the moment.

Things might chance in the future when the Aimara grows bigger - he is eating very well at the moment.

That wolf does look intermedius-ish. So will like to see how it turns out.

The extra width, decor and dithers definitely seem to help with spreading aggression. Maybe I just got unlucky with two very very fowl tempered aimara and dorado. Actually the Armatus i traded away was pretty bad too. And my VATF recently is getting really aggrrssive and doing damage too..

Besides having a humongous tank; one needs to stock the tank with a considerable amount of fishes to make an Aimara comm work.

This means higher maintenance work - filtration, food, water changes etc. Some sort of sacrifice definitely. :(

Continuing the update with my 2nd wolf in the tank. Smaller Mala but grown quite a bit since; before and current picture:
