Well, unexpected trouble with the grow out tank.
Front seal started to seperate last night, or well I noticed it last night...

So now this happens...

So gonna do a make over on the tank, drain it and re-seal. And while I'm at it I think I'm going to switch over to tile bottom. I've been contemplating it for a while now. And we'll, might as well if I have to completely empty the tank anyways.

So sadly the guys are gonna have to deal with this...

Luckily I keep an extra large sponge filter going in all my tanks. So I just pulled it out and plopped it in the bin. Add a bunch of sand from my tank and boom! Lots of beneficial bacteria. Going to add dividers too so the guys don't get pissy and start beating the crap out of each other. Hope everyone makes it for a few days while I remake their home.

I figured I'd document this as it goes too so I can show all they made it though. .... Hopefully...

Meanwhile getting stared at by the creeper... Apperently I'm entertainment while I work.IMG_20170209_185235095.jpg

Mine is a creep man, she is a completely silent husky... Which is weird enough by itself. Since all others I've ever had where super vocal, but she just stares. Like sometimes I'll be watching TV and look and she is around the corner just barely with her head poked out just staring away. Weirdo..

What size range are they at right now? I also ordered 6 of them the same day as you. I lost two due to agression after about 2 month's. Added a few smaller red devils and moved them from the 55 to a 135 and the aggression ceased. Mine are about 4 to 5" right now. Curious to see how fast or slow they're growing compared to others from the same batch. Moved the RDs out today... hopefully a pair will form soon...

My largest was 4-1/2 inches. They where in a 125. Currently their in a plastic tote. I'm down to three. I kept my favorite male and two others I believed where female. (More of an educated guess then actually being sure of the sex.) My smallest was 2 inches. So I'm definitely seeing varied growth.

Good luck fixing the tank. I'm sure they will all be happy when they get their home back. Not sure what is what with mine. Maybe all female? The one I thought was a male when I took out the RD's was showing a lot of black in the dorsal last night. None of the others are showing any color whatsoever. Only a red freckles on the gill plates. I can't even pretend to know anything about sexing young umbees though as this is the first set I've owned or even seen in person.

Yeah, I know my one is a Male because luckily he colored up and was dominant in the tank for a while. The other two I guessed on fin shape and color when feeding. They turned real light yellow/tan instead of dark like every other. Also they where the two smallest left in the group. So really it's all a gamble. I could be completely wrong.

However my favorite was getting beat up and lost dominance and I didn't want to lose him so I did what I did. He has the best color/ plus this super cool green on his face.
