The key is to get the fish out of the living area and into the basement, garage or some other location that won't be a constant irritant to your wife/gf.
Matt

Agreed, I put one show tank in the living room (with Africans which she loves) and the others scattered in others areas of the house. Helps to dissipate her complaints. I do wish I had a fish room though, sure would help with water changes through three story's of house.

One of us is going to end up on "Hoarders" the fish edition!
i believe i am on my way.Living in a small one bedroom apartment with 1200 gallons of water.I even have my closets turned into mini fish rooms, lol

well at least ur not a 2 tank person like me!

I have 7 operating in my living room and the foyer into the kitchen. I am working on trying to squeeze a 6' 125 into the same area. Once I get the basement finished, then it's "game one"! :)

Someone mentioned finding an outlet...I agree! When I vacuum the living room, I have to plug into the outlet in the bathroom :)

Before acquiring fish tanks, I used to be careful with shutting lights off etc, minimizing electrical use...now I have two heaters, two filters and an air pump on every tank :)

My husband claims I am the crazy fish lady. Had 9 tanks at one point in a small 2 bedroom apartment. Down to 6 right now with 4 in the bedroom. And may be getting a free 75G this week. And more fish (husband doesn't know about the fish part :D).

I believe the rule on 5 fish tanks in the living room is, as long as they don't total more than 5,000g it is fine. I believe that becasue I just made it up and the fish keeper voices in my head agreed with me........ NO!, I am not a crazy fish person.:screwy:
