He's the meanest thing I've ever owned, the smelliest too.

P.s do snappers all smell terrible?

Hmmm I change the water pretty regularly... At least once a week. I mean he is just smelly, just him nothing else.

If it smells that terrible, you are very likely overfeeding and/or underfiltering. What size tank is he in? what's the filtration? and what/how much do you feed?

Tehehehe He Smells Bad Its Probably because you have'nt changed His Nappy/Diaper

He is in a ten gallon... I was under the impression that would do until his shell was around 4". He's got a in-tank filter good for 20 gallons (According to the box it came in). Now he doesn't smell REALLY bad but when I take him out of the tank and handle him ( Tank cleaning time only) he starts to smell really bad after a minute or two, it reminds me of how snakes can musk??? I only notice it when I have him in my hand near my face (Yeah bad idea I know)

Diet includes lettuce (when I can get him to eat it), captive bred cockroaches, earth worms, feeder platies also home grown, generally that's it.

Sorry I forgot. I defiantly don't overfeed him. A platy every other day max, worms are a traded for platies some days, cockroaches every day or so, lettuce once a week.

I have actually read that snappers can musk. I've never actually noticed one do it though, and I've handled at least a couple dozen from newly hatched to 25+ pounders.

10 gallons for a snapper at 4" is really small though. Young snappers can be very active IME.

Okay do you think I need to move him to a 20 gal now or how long do you think he will be comfortable in a 10 gal?

What ever the smell is it stays on my hand till I remove it with soap and water.
