Yeah it doesn't make sence. I noticed a "speck" of somthing on my glass yesterday which i asumed was waste, so i flicked it off and it fell to the bottom.

when it fell to the sand bed i saw it move, thinking it was just the current pushing the "particle" around.

with closer inspection i noticed it moving perpendicular to the flow.

It was a snail no larger than the metal tip of a ball point pen.

where could it have come from? I had put new PFS in but only after rinsing it like crazy. the sand was in sealed plastic bags that didn't have any holes otherwise i would have had sand all over the car.

my only guess is that it came from where the sand was packaged and it managed to stay in the rinse bucket. Any thoughts

ill try to get some pics up.

i also have those in my tank mysteriously appearing. but i don't mind them.

hahaa that's one cute snail :D nice substrate you got in there :)

when was the last time you added any fish/plants/feeders or anything to the tank??

its more than likely it hitched a ride in water or with a fish when you last added it and you just havent noticed. i doubt he came from the sand you bought, seeing as its an aquatic snail, and could only stay out of water for so long.

Last fish I added was a pleco two weeks ago...

It is possible that he hitchhiked his way in. I may not have noticed him since the size differential between him and the tank are substantial.

just figured hed come in on the sand cause that was the biggest change i did in the tank

word of caution however, they can reproduce like mad so if you dont want too many snails in your tank get rid of it now. If they dont bother you then enjoy.

That is pretty much how it got in, hitching a ride. Being packd in that sand out of water for such a period of time would've killed it.

You have anything in there besides the pleco? I imagine it'll just get picked off sooner or later rather than reproducing and taking over your tank..
