Hello, new to this site but anyways I picked up a cichlid of some sort at the local fish store since it looked cool and no one knew what it was so I took the little bud home and he's thriving! If someone can help me identify him that would be great!

Nice looking fish, small peacocks are so hard at that size to identify. They all look pretty similar when they're young and even older females all kinda look similar to me. I have a hard time identifying peacocks, maybe someone else can chime in whose more experienced with peacocks then me.
Yeah it's hard, I got the little dude for free so I wanted to figure out what he is and get some females for him.
I am almost certain it's either a juvie or a female. It looks like my small female 3" maybe.
