As has already been said there isnt really a myth to this. What exactly are they supposed to be testing? Any good structural engineer could tell you fairly accurately how much weight the floor could take without testing anything.

Think about production costs here. Need a 4 story building to try to condemn it with this myth? Anyone got a 4 story building laying around that is structurally sound enough to test this myth yet not worth anything because it will be destroyed? In So. Cal no less?

It would probably be cheaper for them to build a building just to test this than use an existing building....

On a side note, I would love to see it get on the show...

for instance the jumping in a falling elevator myth can be solved using simple vectors...I could solve that myth from my chair in 5 min...that doesnt mean it didnt make for great TV!
