No idea how long I've been trying to get my hands on 2 essentially "trash fish" natives - northern squawfish and alaskan blackfish.
Alaskan Blackfish can tolerate much warmer temperatures, especially the shallow ponds during summer and can survive in ponds with no oxygen available to them and the only food source is aquatic insects and other Alaskan Blackfish. Quite adaptable hardy fish.Yeah it is incredibly hard to get ahold of a fish that they put a bounty on (northern Pikeminnow) and a Fish that from videos (one from a college professor studying them) that is one of the most aggressive in North America (the Alaskan Blackfish) since they are natives and probably couldn't live in the warmer waters and enviroments in the south you would think they would be allowed in those areas; they are true monsters I would love to be able to own one day.
Here it is
Scientific name is Aspius Aspius, it lives throughout Europe with the excaption of the UK and some southern/northern countries. The fish in the pic is from Slovenia. A piscivorous Cyprinid, just how I like my fish!![]()
at first glance it looks like a gatf without the large teeth piscivorous cyprinids are sadly overlooked too often imo I think they are great looking fish personally and i'm annoyed I can't get any of them here in texas
