He's a Varanus.net user. It is in their BLOOD! Now varanus.nl is more my style and less bickering, and actually rational about their arguments. That and Sam Sweet owns.

Anyway, no one have theme-named pets? Man, I feel like a dork.

Haha, you bet! What do you mean rational? Because vnet users actually, I dunno, breed monitors with babies comin' out the wazzoo every day? Frank gets a baby something or other like once a week! I dont know what you mean by less rational, if its the debates themselves or the debaters. Vnet guys actually go by RESULTS, not what Bennet or Auffenberg wrote in a book 20 years ago with some croc monitor up a tree 100 feet away. But KS monitor forum is a totally different story man... UGH I cant stand that place anymore! :irked:

Anyway, theres a difference between hijacking for fun and genuinely caring for the health of someone elses animal.

Other than the substrate I don't see any clues that the temp was off...I think you should wind ya neck in Loco. Or at least wait till you have evidence the temps are off.

I agree about the substrate..but, mehh, theres a way to do and a way not to do..and you just did it..:irked:

Take it to the PM, as this is SERIOUSLY off topic & getting on a few peoples nerves..and no im not causing an arguement..but it IS took to the pm easily enough, theres no need for it on a thread about naming pets ..:screwy:

Thats a great sized tank mate (obviously for now) maybe if you switched to aspen it would be abit more comfy but other than that well done :)

What spid is that?? Nice royal too :)

Dave - no, I dont have themed names for my pets LOL

Only get names if they have any kind of personality or special in any way, and I don't have too many of them. Not a massive naming fan TBH, but always exceptions.
Themed names... I may have a few named after "neighbours" characters :grinno:
Sometimes I like names or words from country of origin.
Either that or just name based on looks/personality
I have one pre-designated name for a Morelia s. spilota... Steve.

Dude, threads go off ALL THE TIME!!! Its hard to find one that hasnt!! Theres not arguement, only concern. Theres nothing wrong with threads changing, theyre supposed to. Its just a conversation, the thread topic is only what starts it.

Evidence his temps are off? I dont need it, I just want to make sure they ARENT.

If people are mad at this, thats seriously disturbing. Concern for anothers animal should NOT be something to be mad about, even for the sake of a thread going off topic for a few posts, which happens all the time anyway.

i went to the end of this thread to see what the latest on pet names was and i had to back track and read a bunch of off topic stuff that basically is still goin.Loco, keep in mind the site is controlled by the mods.just here me out.when threads get off topic for several posts it normally gets closed .A few chimes here and there dont hurt, you have given your advice publicly and if its going no place try just to pm them.Weather we like the direction the thread is going or not,it will get closed and that sucks when it was an otherwise active thread.I know threads go way off but we have topic titles for a reason,if it strays, start a new thread on the topic your interested in.Thats just what i try to do,were all guilty at some point.:)

I think its not necessarily when they go off-topic, but when it starts getting into an arguing match, and has nothing to do wth pets whatsoever, is when the thread gets closed. Hypothetically, if a thread is about bearded dragon diet, and somehow evolves into a discussion of proper temps for BDs, I think as long as everyone is civil, the thread can remain open. If it starts getting ugly, and degresses into a flame war of "I'm right and you're a troll", then it gets locked.

Having said that, I usually name my pets, drawing from literature & other media, as well as geographic origin for inspiration. There are a few instances when I just draw a blank and end up naming something the default name of 'Reggie". (Reggie seems to be a pretty generic name that can apply for nearly any species, gender).

I name some fish usually similar to it's scientific name ,like my bgk is called "macka" as in mack the knife."declan" my decorus synodontis."Ferris" is my fire eel ,well not all named scienticically(im a ferris beulers day off fan)."Poly" is my bichir.Did have "pretty poly" my ornatapinus bichir but had to give him to my bro.

Yep have named ALL my animals!!

Aside from the MANY dogs and cats that I have had over the years I have had:

Toby, Monti and Cranberri (red eared sliders {ended up giving those to a friend when there out side mini pond became to small for them, he had a enclosed pond that he wanted turtles in})

Belle, Bob, Rocky, Lori, Ace and Walker (Eastern box turtles that we re-hab after a local vet fixed them when they were hit by cars, but didn't know how to house them.)

Also have had many "pets", animals out side that we watched and grew found of, including, but not limited to:

Kite(a red hawk that loved the valley that we lived in because of how windy it was and would just float like a kite),

Little Joe, Adam, Hoss, and Candy (4 wild mustangs {or just feral colts} that ran or property in Nevada)

Fire and Flame (2 red salamanders that lived in the RV park that we were at in western Massachusetts)

Gulp (a Florida pelican who would come and visit us on our 2week vacation down there)

Rocky, Rambo and Scarface (3 young alligators that lived in a pond behind our house in southern Florida)

Hermie, Fire-cracker and Cherri-bomb (Hermit crabs of the past)

Rowdy, Day, Night, Jewled, and Bernard (Betta's of the past)

(and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head, lol)

The animals I now own:

3 dogs (Clara Belle, Bonni Belle, and Beaureguard)
2 cats (Boots and Oscar)
2 Hermit crabs (Bear and Riko)
2 turtles(Joey an Eastern Box and Sunni an Ornate Box)
and last but not least
the ones in my fish tank: Fiamma, Chamas, Llama, Vlam, and Flamme (my 5 Flame Tetras{more to come}), Whiskers (my 1 surviving Panda Cory{more to come also}), and Silver Bells (an unknown fry {from my LFS})
