the male that I had that outgrew the other 2 went from 2" to 4" in just a couple of months. It definitely works. My midas and festae that share the same divided 115 spawned withing 12 hours of each other.
My haits do the same stupid arguing with tubes down. I think my male's tube is down most of the time. He's a horny lil' bastage. They never do anything. Well he beats on her a bunch. If acestro's wasn't named Ike, I'd name mine that and his mate Tina.
I'm just waiting for him to sell that fish to me so I can give him two gf's to spawn through the grate with.

This might be worth a try Matt.
If they are acting like spawning is eminent, I won't do a water change for a week or 2, and then change the water perameters a bit by either doing a water change with rainwater, (or in winter), I have access RO, and mix about 50/50with tap. I believe that difference in conductivity and osmotic change, fire them up like it's rainy season on Hispaniola.
