nano-nano tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok I added "live rock/ aragonite" on the 7th and it's been sitting a few days. I figure I'll wait till I get back from my cruise (5/22) to add any stock. My idea so far is a helfrechi firefish (2.5 inch max), a citrinis goby" (2 inch max) and a sexy shrimp. Does this sound do-able?

Also will the Aquaclear 10 powerhead (80gph) be good for this little tank or too much?

In terms of lighting, will the Coralife 50/50 10watt CF be able to sustain softies and perhaps LPS?

Look up pico in google images. There are some awesome ones smaller than that! I know there are skimmers that will work on a 5g tank.

WOW thanks for the heads up... I had no idea there was such a market for these little tanks... I never heard the term "pico tank" until tonight

I took out of of the blue-green chromis from my main tank and out him in the 5g hex. He's only about 1" and he'll ahng out in there till I get stock for that tank

Man, in a 5.5, options are endless....my buddy with the 2.0g will have to swap those fish out as they grow...(he has two fish in his 2g) but corals and everything else (including an anemone now) are all doing well. Crazy but true. 5.5 is a walk in the park for someone who knows what they are doing.

Thanks! I'm going to the lfs today to get a Green clown goby and perhaps some cleanup crew. Think 5 blue legged and 5 astrea will be fine?

Just remember one thing. The smaller the tank, the more difficult it is.

Given... But I have a chromis and a pistol shrimp in there and has been doin fine :)

You could do a neon goby and a shrimp. I have a standerd 5.5 in my kids room with a 1.5" clown and a purple lobster in it and doing great. The only thing with a tank that small is you have to keep an eye on the water temp and water level.

I'm not sure how well it would work, but the marineland maxi-jet powerheads(the new style) are sealed, so you can keep the motor/pump unit outside the tank, and use a feed/return hose for circulation.
