I geuss ill just answer the questions on this thread it seems abandoned. Well protein skimmers arent necisary but they do help. Also do you want to do corals or just fish then it is easier to help?

my current lighting is only good for fowlr i suppose, not even 1w per gallon. How much for things like mushrooms and polyps?
ok so looks like it might just be fish only with live rock. Any suggestions on a type of skimemr to buy?
Most do basicly the same thing you dont have to get the most expensive but dont get the cheapest get one in the middle and that is the right size for your tank then you will be fine
ok anything else i really need to know, i heard you should take out all the media from canisters/hob and add rubble or lava rock. and lots of water movement right?
Ya you want your spray bar reaching out of the water coming back in and a a powerjet if you can. I have never heard of doing that in a canister but if you using a w/d use liverock insted of bio balls
Just curious, is 9 watts per gallon (PC) too much lights?
