ehhh, steppiing on the gas isnt really exerting great physical energy. The whole purpose behind that statement was a physical activity, such as football for example. There aren't any machines which can impact the outcome of the event. Not the case with Nascar.

If badminton is considered a sport.. and bowling.. then i dont see why sweating in a 90 deg + deathtrap and having lightning like reflexes and stress level approaching that of a heart attack not be considered one.

If you think racing cars is just about "stepping on the gas" then i dont know what to say. What do think about Jockeys who ride horses? They just "ride a horse" ? ;)

I believe the premise behind me saying its not a sport is the utilization of machines. THey greatly impact the outcome of the race, and lets be honest, not every driver has the same quality machine to ride behind. Not the case with basketball, soccer, football, etc.

This could open a whole new can of worms.....I guess when you think about the physical stress (G force) put on the body you could consider it a sport. F1 drivers put up with the most though....Its really a tough call.

I dont think using machines would disqualify race car drivers as not being sportsmen.
Its not your traditional picture of sports definitely but i IMO its a sport. Specially F1 racing and all forms of racing at their highest levels.

:(, but when machines impact the result, thats when it really stops becoming a sport. It's a nice ACTIVITY, but not a sport. :)

Well good sir, I respect your opinion, but I'm a pretty stubborn person and I'll personally never consider it a sport :)
