You ever considered how strenous racing cars are and what kind of concentration it takes? If some people can consider bowling a sport, then i dont see why racing cars isnt. And i dont see where music and art came from... Im using skill in the context of how racing cars should be a sport. Maybe youre trying to point out that racing cars should be classified as an art form or a form of making music?

Yeah, I am pretty sure hanging upside down day after day while painting the Sistine Chapel was pretty strenous and took a lot of concentration. I am sure it was very physical as well. Also consider that art is created for entertainment and is highly competitive...my point is, not every competitive, strenous activity that takes concentration is a sport.
I was not trying to point out that NASCAR was an art form, I was trying to give examples of other things that take skill and all the over above mentioned characterisitics that are not considered sports. Do you consider a competition between musicians to be a sport? People paying to watch others go against eatchother and be judged on how well they play an instrument. Surely it takes a lot of skill, practice, reflexes and everything else that goes into NASCAR. How about dog shows? Do you consider them a sport? These people work their tail off trying to raise the perfect specimen of their breed. They exhuast a lot of energy with that animal.
I don't care where you draw your line on what is or is not a sport, I just draw my line at NASCAR.

I love ALL motor sports......Maybe because once I drive a 550hp beast around a half mile oval with the pedal smashed through the floor every saturday night in the summer....

IT TAKES BALLS TO RACE!!!!!!! BIG BALLS, SKILL, AND LOTS OF PRACTICE AND TRAINING.

You dam haters have no clue of what it takes to tame a beast and do it better than everyone else out on the track. Is it a sport....HELL YES!!!

open wheel Modifieds  but I havent ran in about four years. My brother runs a Mod now going on three years for him.

But last summer I raced a few in a bomber class division called leadsleds...LOL at Auto City Speedway, drove a 87 caprice 4 door.... It was still fun as hell:grinyes:

Done with the dishes. Yeah Ben, this thread is much more fun that doing the latter. Oh this thread requires, skill and if you can see there is a certain degree of competition here too. No physical exertion though so it aint a sport.

timmy ,toxic - agreed. I wont even try to sweat out why racing cars at pro levels is a sport. Everything was alread stated above.

if nascar put more road course's on the rasta then maybe I'LL like it!! other wise it really take's no talent to turn left 6.000 time's in 2 to 3 hr period!!! any monkey can learn to drive circle track!!!.. :D
