Nasty fish store owner

set up. set temp. ad small amount of prime(full dosage not needed), add established biomedia from another tank. and add a few feeders... tank will be ready to go in no time
 
what i do is almost the same i put some cheap fish food for a day or two let the ammo get real high and then quickly put the established filter or gravel in the tank and ammo is gone in about 8 10 days i do a 50 pecent water change and put my fish in .

i guess the prime speeds it up for me.. but i can put fish in a developed tank in 3 days... maybe its just my water:thumbsup:
 
maybe the prme is giving you a false ammo reading some test kits dont pick up some brands .
 
i guess... i just though about it and part of the reason is probably because i have well water:wall:

do you change youre water once a month and tell people a 29 gallon is big enough for a oscar i dont think you do or agree with that i hope .and somone who claims they have 20 plus years experience shouldnt say that .
 
i know.. true.. i dont even know where i took this thread so i dont know what point i was trying to make:ROFL:
 
The point is this is a great hobby but the wrong information from the wrong people can cost you lots of money and dead fish store owners dont need to be crooks and give bad info to make money they can make it the honest way most fish stores want youre fish to die every few months more money in there pocket .
