all the minnows have mercury in them.

coyote reservoir that doesn't have contaminated water doesn't have minnows like rosiereds & mosquitos.

are you saying i can't feed sunfish and bass to my turtle?

After you spend money on nets, gas, supplies, and a fishing permit....I'll bet feeding frozen shrimp will be cheaper and much healthier than live fish.

well he's on a staple diet of pellets.

will you please give me the o.k. to feed turtles bluegill & bass. i want to know if it's safe, because of the bluegill's sharp spines..

can i look for them carefully? like what kind of parasites?

and what's that fish(?) in your avatar..?

I wouldn't suggest buying to feed.. That is WAY expensive for what you seem to be looking for...

I would look for mosquito fish or guppys to feed if I were going live.. Adn if you are looking for something to keep :) Well the site above has allot of cool stuff :)

where can i buy mosquito fish? i don't see any tanks for them at PETCO.
are they better than goldfish?

i wanted bluegill & bass because i like to fish for them and watch them...and have my turtle go after them..

thanks for the site..i might order..everything is sold out though.lol

can somebody just answer these 2 questions..
#1: will the spine spikes of the bluegill hurt my turtle?
#2: will my turtle choke if the fish is around 1~2"+. or will he chew his food?

Sure:
#1 not likely (see reason in answer to question #2)

#2 The turtle (depending on species bigger turtles will eat bigger fish) will not likely eat the fish whole. It will rip it in to bite size pieces. In the process.. you will have head and spines and bits and pieces of flesh and innards all over your tank that will begin to rot and wipe out your water to something like a very disgusting oily mess...

JAEA21, I already answered your turtle question in the reptile forum. Large live fish do not make up part of a Sonoran Mud Turtles diet. They are mainly scavangers but confined to a tank he will attack your fish and your fish will die a slow death. If you want some fish in his tank, use Rosey reds (fat-head minnows). No bluegills!
