I think your right , I would go with a snail, spotted bullhead, or even a slender madtom or stone cat.TheFishJunky;4144414;4144414 said:pictus??? that's lunch to them oscars people...sheesh.
A 5" fish with some O's that grow over a foot.....don't think that will work. Not to mention they will try to eat things bigger than their mouth often and when that little pictus flares up and gets stiff so all its fins stick out in defense - you now have 2 dead fish. A dead Oscar who chokes to death and a dead pictus that cannot free itself.
I have seen some Raphaels get quite large but even they aren't a great choice.
Go with a larger than them Raph(if you can even find one) or a jag or giant bumblebee or maybe just do some research here first:http://www.planetcatfish.com/
No matter what you do-make sure that cat is the same size or a little larger than them O's.
Yeah that's great... but only one thing-he doesn't have a JD he has 2 Oscar's that gets 3-5 x's the size of a JD and Blue Gill as wellbradleyagregg;4144818; said:I dont think you would be disappointed with 4 line. MIne are hardy and my big one holds its own against a jd, when the tank lights are off he swims all over the place for hours. he keeps the substrate clean and they are dirt cheap around here ( 6 bucks for a 5 incher), but in the end choose what u want as long as they are compatible with your current stock

I dont know about suncats.....but spotted and snail bullheads only get 12-18inches and wont eat your Bluegill or your Oscars. Most bigger Catfish will end up eating your sunnies and O's (rTC, Shovelnose and Channels)and smaller Cats (pictus, some cories and madtoms)will get eaten by them.ravio11i;4145379;4145379 said:Havent gotten anything yet, Can anyone tell me what the cat i Kaz's pic is? it looks bad ass. fishguy is right I'm lookin for something to keep for life in there. The O's are full grown and either a pair or a couple of lesbians I'm not sure as the one batch of eggs they've laid went unfertilized. They're pretty laid back so i wouldn't worry about them eating anything, the gills on the other hand are pretty tough and will bully.
What about suncats? they seem to get to a reasonable size and I suspect by the time they'd go in the gills would be too big to eat. Anyone have any experiance with them?
Thanks,
Rav
