this is a good choice as tankmates

well I had thought about a pictus myself, but wasn't sure how they'd do, I feel like they stay a little small to go with my current stocking, I am thinking about a couple 4 liners. Featherfins are good looking fish but i havent seen them local, might go that route if I find some. I'd love a red tail but as we all know they get too big, which is a shame 'cause they're awesome. What is that one Kaz? it looks pretty badass.
currently leaning towards a couple 4lines.

pictus??? that's lunch to them oscars people...sheesh.
A 5" fish with some O's that grow over a foot.....don't think that will work. Not to mention they will try to eat things bigger than their mouth often and when that little pictus flares up and gets stiff so all its fins stick out in defense - you now have 2 dead fish. A dead Oscar who chokes to death and a dead pictus that cannot free itself.
I have seen some Raphaels get quite large but even they aren't a great choice.
Go with a larger than them Raph(if you can even find one) or a jag or giant bumblebee or maybe just do some research here first:http://www.planetcatfish.com/
No matter what you do-make sure that cat is the same size or a little larger than them O's.

I think your right , I would go with a snail, spotted bullhead, or even a slender madtom or stone cat.

I dont think you would be disappointed with 4 line. MIne are hardy and my big one holds its own against a jd, when the tank lights are off he swims all over the place for hours. he keeps the substrate clean and they are dirt cheap around here ( 6 bucks for a 5 incher), but in the end choose what u want as long as they are compatible with your current stock

Yeah that's great... but only one thing-he doesn't have a JD he has 2 Oscar's that gets 3-5 x's the size of a JD and Blue Gill as well:hitting:
Maybe it's just me...:nilly:
Please don't forget the OP asked what cat he could get for LIFE in his 125 with the O's and Bluegill, which could be one or 5 who knows? but Bluegill get nasty as hell also.Good luck with whatever you choose. I just would hope you aren't already out buying a school of pictus to swim with your current stock.Could it work? Sure-it may work for week or even a few months but eventually its gonna go bad. Good luck either way.

Havent gotten anything yet, Can anyone tell me what the cat i Kaz's pic is? it looks bad ass. fishguy is right I'm lookin for something to keep for life in there. The O's are full grown and either a pair or a couple of lesbians I'm not sure as the one batch of eggs they've laid went unfertilized. They're pretty laid back so i wouldn't worry about them eating anything, the gills on the other hand are pretty tough and will bully.
What about suncats? they seem to get to a reasonable size and I suspect by the time they'd go in the gills would be too big to eat. Anyone have any experiance with them?
Thanks,
Rav

I dont know about suncats.....but spotted and snail bullheads only get 12-18inches and wont eat your Bluegill or your Oscars. Most bigger Catfish will end up eating your sunnies and O's (rTC, Shovelnose and Channels)and smaller Cats (pictus, some cories and madtoms)will get eaten by them.

Well I am partial to Giraffe Catfish. They are fun to watch as they vacum the bottom of the tank. Had mine in with Frontosa, Malawi Eyebiters and a Giant Gourami. Yea I know it is a weird mix but it was fun. The Giraffe and the Gourami were like having a pair of dogs in a tank. Mine was 2 feet long after at 5 years old.
