need a cat

well seeing as the Jurs seem to get to between 2 and 4 feet they're prob a little big. same with the giraffe, The spotted bull or snail bull would both be possibilities but they don't sound like they pop up in stores much if at all. But if anyone knows where I might find one in the rochester, or buffalo area I might be interested.

Fish guy I got your message about the achara and that would be cool but I'm pretty much limited to local pickup by my finances.

All in all I'm begining to think trying to find a cat that is big enough to get by in the tank but stays small enough not to eat my inhabitants may not happen. Such is the case wit monsters sometimes I guess.

I'll keep this thread open and keep checking it however. Anyone local to the western NY area with any suggestions to other stores to check? as it is I shop at a local petworld that is pretty good, a petsmart that has nice clean tanks but limited stock and a petco that is alright but not great.

I have a sun cat too and that could be an option. Mine is about 7-8" after a year. He seems to grow very slowly and has quite the appetite but he ONLY comes out at night or when noone is in front of the tank. I think they get to 18-24" but I am not sure, I've never kept one before. Very cute face though. I don't think you will have to worry about him getting eaten.

But my pictus also can hold their own with bigger fish. Someone said their was danger of them getting eaten. Mine have pegged themselves territories amongst our rock formation so they are never in danger.

i had a red tail (i think) and he lived for about 3 years untill i put a small pickerol i caught in the tank

Seems most I read about the suns is that they top out in the 12-18 in range but that you never see them. I've recently learned that one of the bluegills is in fact a redbreasted sunfish I believe so he'll prob stay a bit smaller making him a likely target for a larger sun cat or most any of them I guess. i'm thinking that unless a spotted bull comes through I've likely stocked myself out of a cat. Oh well

Jonahs and Sachs are 2 stores that sell native fish over the internet and Ive seen them before on Jonahs site. Redbreasts are Awesome......Ive only kept Green Sunfish but I am a big fan of Redbreasts and Longears. You could also post a wanted on NANFA website or on MfK to members in Georgia and North Carolina where they have spotted Bullheads.
