Ive called it a mosaic gar since Ive had it becuz thats wut the lfs called it and they r a very knowledgeable fish store. But Ive also been told its a spotted pike. Its silver with a strip of black down the middle of the body with spots on the top and belly
 
i would do a water change... and check it again
 
Doing the water change now. Ill let u know asap how things r. The only thing is my buddy isnt home. He is where i get my water from becuz he has a reverse osmosis, Im gunna test my tap water and see if that is safe enough.

it won't hurt to wait until your buddy gets home.. so you can get the right water... i think that would be safer as long as it did not require too long a wait..
 
we'll im testing the tap water right now, I've been wanting to do this anyways becuz ive been told where i live is rated #2 in the top 5 water supplies in my area. Thank you guys very much. Defininitly know y i joined a place like this. Like a big family lol
 
I was going to say that your water may not be in great condition. Try to lower your pH and adjust your nitrate/nitrite. Most likely your arowana tried to jump out of the water to "greener pastures" as someone said. Goodluck and I would add some filtration and do a water change or two.

New york tap water is pretty safe so I do not think it should be an issue.
