i spent the money on a carrot stick coupled with my wright & mcgill 10bb baitcaster and i will never get rid of it ... i clean the reel everytime i come back from fishing i always lube it up and ive had it it tip top condition for the past 2 years i never need another baitcaster ...
Need a little help with choosing the correct fishing rods.

Ok guys, instead of starting a new thread I'm going to update this one. I'd like to make a few changes. I sold the Caenan to my sister in law and I'm going to sell one of my Sonora 2500FB's. I plan on doing away with the "Shakespeare Sturdy Stick (Medium Heavy) with Cardiff 400A on 20lb test" and transferring the Cardiff 400A to a rod that will be tailored to Striper but I could still occasionally catch some small to medium cats on as well. What is a good rod for that purpose?
I used to be all about the Ugly sticks, I have 5 of them, but I must say the Vendetta has spoiled me. I'm going to pick up another one to use with my other Trio-40, that combination just feels tremendously better in every aspect. I'll keep one with 8 lbs and one with 10 lbs line.
So what would be a good rod to use with my Cardiff 400A, I'd probably still use 20lb line, would the Sturdy Stick be worthwhile for Striper fishing?

It's really all about what you want to spend. Personally I don't like ugly sticks cause I feel they are too flexible even in the heavier actions. G-Loomis or st. Croix are my choice..7' medium heavy action would be perfect for you IMO..They are pricey but the warranty can't be touched. A broken eye, or rod even if it's your fault is replaced no questions asked.

I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I picked up a Shimano SE Teramar (inshore spinning - but they also have a casting version). Primarily, I fish for snakeheads so I needed a rod that would be able to handle the fights but was also light because my previous ugly sticks were heavy and tiring (I would be casting all day long). I found this rod to be an exceptional balance as I occasionally fish for stripers, bass and catfish.
From Tackletour: "The rod sports the matchless TC4 wrap which almost looks like millions of randomly intertwined threads beneath a protective coating. In actuality TC4 is a high modulus construction that features a double horizontal inner layer of dynamic fibers with an inner and outer spiral of graphite." The threads also looks awesome when you take it out on the water on a sunny day. You can kind of make it out in this picture. Not sure what your budget is but you can pick one up for just above $100.
$100 would be at the high end of the budget as it will be secondary. 90% of the time I use my spinning rod. The other thing is it really needs to be a two piece. My Tahoe doesn't have room for a 7' one piece if the kids are riding with me.
